Person Identifier (PID) Generator
The PID-Generator generates a unique patient identifier for every patient in a study.
The PID-Generator developed by the TMF has been installed, will be tested and is available as a free service for the network.
The PID-Generator generates a unique patient identifier for every patient in a study. This can be used as a single-level pseudonym and is an input parameter for a second pseudonymisation.
The PID-Generator is an application designed for the matching of personal data and the assignment of Personal Identifiers (PIDs). It is especially capable of dealing with sensitive data, e. g. in the case of patient data, and with data which may be unsure or incomplete.
That way patients can be brought together in a unique way under the same pseudonym, even if they contact different doctors. Also data from different studies can be combined under the pseudonym, without presenting the patients identity.
